The Central Virginia Cattlemen Association (CVCA) was
formed in the Fall of 1998. Currently there are approximately 240
producers in the association who own a total of over 24,000 brood
cows. . Our association headquarters is located in Orange, Virginia.
The purpose of the group is to promote and improve livestock
production, education, and marketing of beef cattle.
The Central Virginia Cattlemen
Association (CVCA) provides many functions for its members that are
some of the leading beef cow-calf producers in Central Virginia.
Members market preconditioned steer and heifer calves in trailer
load lots. A heifer development program is provided for producers to
have their heifers AI bred for home use or to have them sold as bred
heifers. Currently, all heifers are bred AI to the Select Sires
Dillon bull, and three generations calving ease Prime Time D806 sons
are used as clean up bulls. Members bulk purchase minerals from
Renaissance Nutrition, animal health supplies from Pfizer, and gates
from Fleenor Gate Company. Educational programs are also provided at
least once a quarter for producers to keep informed of the latest
information in the cattle business.
